Case Study - Updating the U.S. Air Force's Budget Enterprise System
Challenge
The legacy Resource Allocation Programming Information Decision System (RAPIDS) was originally sentenced to death in FY14. It was not until SAF/FM & AFLCMC PEO-BES partnered with Definitive Logic using Agile methodology that RAPIDS permanently visited the Legacy Graveyard in Dec 2021.
Solution
Beginning in 2017, Definitive Logic worked in collaboration with our close partners at CACI, Kearney & Company and Oracle to design and configure PBES – Program & Budget Enterprise System making use of a commercial-off-the-shelf financial planning suite. DL successfully migrated 50 years’ worth of historical data from their legacy systems and loaded all of it into a modern Oracle interface for all reporting and analysis.
Impact
We are proud to announce that the Air Force built its FY23 Program Objective Memorandum (POM) and the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Budget (SAF/FMB) completed its submission to OSD using the new PBES platform.
